Bear Cake Smash | Portland, CT

Planning for baby #2 in the family to turn one is always so exciting for me as a photographer! After working with big sister’s strawberry cake smash a few years ago, it was time for little brother’s bear cake smash! His Mom loved my camping/outdoor theme and asked that I modify it just a little bit to include more bears to go with his adorable outfits. I loved the cute “Don’t wake the bear” sign that I found along with some additional stuffed animals! Little Orson came to my Newington, CT photography studio in earlier March, thankfully right before the pandemic closed us down! When he arrived he was so happy to see me! I even got to hold him for a bit later on, which always warms my heart (sometimes by age one we’re starting to get a little clingy, so this was wonderful!). We took some “clean” portraits in the set and of course, as it has been with a lot of my outdoor-set babies, he went right for the wood pieces! (We do wash them after each session) We played with them, chewed on them (haha), stacked them, and had fun knocking over our O-N-E letters! Balloons are always a hit at this age too so we had fun hitting those all over the set! Then it was time for cake. Now Orson has a dairy allergy, so for safety in this case, parents much provide a cake from an allergy free bakery. Luckily we have one just a few towns over that’s very popular – Dee’s One Smart Cookie! They were able to decorate a little dairy free smash cake just for his photoshoot! Orson wasn’t really up for eating, but he DID successfully smash this cake  to smithereens! To wash off all of that cake and frosting, we had a quick tub bath and played with the ducks and “bubbles”. It turned out to be a great photoshoot with a lot of variety of images to choose from! His parents have quiet a few they selected digitally, and here are just some of the many favorites! *Due to the Corona Virus, we are currently closed until (right now) May 20th, 2020. And to accommodate all of the reschedules, we’ll be booking end of June/beginning of July and beyond. HOPEFULLY we won’t have any more issue, but to be safe, make sure if you want to plan for the second half of 2020 that you contact me once we are back open to get in the calendar. We already have quite a few bookings for July-October and want to get as many clients in as we can. See you soon! xoxo
