Pregnancy is a beautiful journey filled with moments worth capturing. As a maternity photographer based in Newington, CT, my goal is to create meaningful artwork from your pregnancy photos that not only celebrate this unique time but tell your story in a way that feels personal and authentic to you.

In-home sessions offer a sense of familiarity and comfort. Whether you’re curling up on your favorite couch or spending time in your soon-to-be nursery, there’s something special about capturing everyday moments in the space you call home. It’s personal, allowing me to photograph you in your element—relaxed and being yourselves.
In this session, this family of three, soon to be four, chose their own home. This can be a great option for families with older siblings to be comfortable in their own space, a more casual feel, and capture the beauty of their preparations for adding another baby to the family! I was so honored to be a part of their second story, and their neighbors even had a fantastic garden we could use for some photos as well!

On-location sessions provide an opportunity to explore outdoor spaces that might hold special memories or simply offer a beautiful backdrop. Think local parks, or even your favorite coffee shop. These places can add layers of storytelling to your photos, showing the places that mean something to you during this exciting time.
In this session, this sweet mom had asked about photographing under the Founder’s Bridge, where you can see the archways in the distance. As soon as we arrived, I could see the sun would create a gorgeous rim light on her back, and I knew adding a pop of light on the opposite side would create something epic!

Finally, my studio might be the ideal location. Is my studio meaningful to you? Maybe not (yet!) But the studio offers a quiet, comfortable space with all the amenities we need at our fingertips. Some of my clients really love that they don’t need to clean their house for the session and that the studio offers privacy. With the studio as the backdrop, your beautiful baby bump and love for the baby are our main focus.

Are you having a baby soon!? There is so much to plan and so much to get ready before your little one arrives. You can Google Baby Registry ideas and find all the usual items, but which items will you really need? What are some of the must-haves new moms can’t live without? My daughter is only 11 years old, and I feel like there have been so many new baby items out there since she was a newborn. But I ALSO remember so many fancy things that really weren’t necessary and can take up a lot of your budget! I decided to ask my team and post a poll on Instagram to find out what the must-have items are. One of my team members just had her second baby last year, so she had some good insights.
Here are eleven items you should add to your baby registry! We linked to the items below. None of these links are affiliates!
10 Must-Have Baby Registry Items
- Sound Machine – A sound machine will help the baby fall asleep and stay asleep! There are so many options for sound machines, and some people swear by their Hatch (can can be programmed with your phone), but an inexpensive one this like will do the, job too!

- Black Out Shade – Another sleep-must! If light pours into your baby’s room during the day, a black-out shade is a must. Keep your baby’s room nice and dark for better sleep. My team member got this one invented by a night shift worker who needed better sleep! There are many portable options when you travel, too.

- Baby Night Light – Now this would have been great during night feeds! This “egg light” turns on with a tap, is portable, and creates the perfect soft light during a night feed. You can keep the room lights off but still see what you need during night feeds and diaper changes.
Ready to become a family of four!
- Waterproof Crib Sheets (and a waterproof sheet for your bed!) – Register for waterproof crib sheets and several crib sheet backups. You don’t want to have to mess around if the sheets get wet during the night. My team member has a bonus tip: get a waterproof sheet for your bed, too! You just never know what might spill at the worst moment.

- Baby Swing – There will be times when you need to set your baby down in a safe spot. A baby swing is the perfect place for baby to hang out while you get things done or just take a break. Swings aren’t meant for sleeping all night, though! Please research the latest in safe sleep.

- Baby Carrier – Another safe spot for your baby is tucked in against you in a cozy carrier. There are many carrier options, and you might have to try a few to find the perfect one for you. My team member really liked the K’Tan or an Ergo Baby Carrier.

- Electric Nail Trimmer – Trimming a baby’s tiny, delicate nails can be nerve-wracking. Now they have these handy electric nail trimmers! Now, it’s easy to trim baby’s nails with no clipping.

- Frida Nose Sucker – The holy grail! Unfortunately, your sweet baby will get sick, and you will be so glad that you have this handy. You can help your congested baby breathe with this easy-to-use nose sucker. It works so much better than a regular suction bulb.
Documenting your growing family!
- Haaka – If you’re planning on breastfeeding your baby, consider adding a Haaka to your pumping equipment! This breast pump is easy to use and clean, making it super easy to collect breast milk. Just YouTube or Google tricks on how to use this pump.

- Mobile Diaper Changing Station – If your home has multiple levels, consider a mobile diaper changing station on the main level. You don’t want to be caught with a poopy diaper and need to run all the way upstairs to the nursery for a diaper change! You can choose a simple cart to store all the diaper changing (and maybe even spare outfits!), or you can find a mobile diaper-changing station like this one.

After you finish your registry, the next big item is booking your newborn photographer. We typically take newborn photos within the baby’s first two weeks of life, so the sooner you can get on my calendar, the better! I will hold a session spot on the baby’s due date, but babies come when they want! We keep in touch towards the end of your pregnancy so that we can schedule a date that works best for your family once your baby is born. This studio maternity portrait session in Newington, CT, was not only a celebration of the mom-to-be but also a glimpse into the couple’s journey and their excitement for this baby! This gorgeous mom-to-be had a clear vision for her maternity photos, and she was a joy to work with! During the session planning, she shared her desire for three distinct session styles to capture a diverse set of images that truly tell the story of her pregnancy! Our studio maternity session captured a casual look, a dressed-up ensemble, and a breathtaking sequence of images showing her beautiful bump.
For the dressed-up segment, our mom-to-be radiated sheer elegance. Save time and money on your maternity session outfit. Instead of spending money on an outfit you’ll likely wear once, you can look and feel beautiful and confident while letting me handle your attire. My full-length maternity sessions include a gown or body suit rental. On the day of your session, you get to arrive at the studio with your outfit clean and ready for you. Or, if you’d be more comfortable in something else, I can work with you to style your own outfit. I can also recommend hair and makeup at KissAndMakeUp in West Hartford, CT for your session to schedule right before coming to see me, located just down the street from my studio.

- Three Month Photos
Newborn photos are taken within two weeks of birth (most often) and up to six weeks old; however, sometimes clients need to wait to take their baby’s photos for a number of reasons. If you miss the newborn window, there is another option that’s just as adorable! The three month baby sessions are perfect for documenting their precious babyhood with images of tummy time, back shots, and the beginnings of expressions while still in that newer baby stage.

4. Six Month Sitter Photos
Your sweet newborn is now an adorably chubby and expressive baby! The baby phase goes by way too fast, and this session allows us to hit the pause button and document each kissable cheek, wrist roll, and smile. We’ll meet baby right where they’re at developmentally, but many clients like to wait until baby is sitting up independently between six and seven months. Parents help me get some of the best expressions that will create treasured images. You’ll look back on these and instantly be transported to baby snuggles and coos.

The grand finale of the Lifetime Plan is the 1st birthday cake smash session. Summer Newborn Photos | Glastonbury, CT
We have spent so many years getting to know this family and their precious German Shepard dog, Caesar! This year we found out they were pregnant and couldn’t wait to help them capture the special milestones for their first human-baby! Earlier in the summer we focused on their maternity portraits outdoors on a gorgeous evening. A few months later they returned to my Newington, CT photography studio for their summer newborn photos with their precious baby girl! Mom was hoping for a mauve and floral color scheme (always a favorite!) and I decided to make their photoshoot even more special by incorporating a summer twist and some new props! Along with their beautiful sets ups in those colors, I also purchased an outfit and swimming tube just right for a little baby girl! They were also excited to use my new unicorn prop as well. But as we know – it’s up to the baby! Luckily she did so well for us and slept the morning away as I carefully posed her in a variety of ways to make some really special photos for her Mom and Dad. They loved how they came out and chose a great variety of a wall art cluster (one of our most popular items), some digital files, and prints to share with family and friends. I am so blessed to be able to help my clients with some of their most precious milestones and can’t wait to see her again this coming Christmas season and for her first birthday!
