Documentary Maternity Photography – Newington, CT Maternity Photographer
Mom contacted me this past spring about planning for their second baby’s upcoming arrival and they had been referred by her Mom, who met me at the previous year’s Newington Extravaganza! It was such an honor for someone to remember my business and quality and recommend me for their grandchild’s newborn photos. We booked my popular Annual Review Plan, in order to allow for their maternity, newborn, and additional milestone session to be captured. This is such a great resource for clients that want to have multiple sessions around their new baby’s arrival. We planned for an in-home documentary maternity photography session which is one of my favorite ways to celebrate this time period. In-home sessions allow for families, especially those with an older sibling, to relax in their own environment without worrying about getting up for an early session or that “perfect pose”. Documentary style photography allows for some direction but the family takes it from there. It really also is a nice way to tell the story of their preparations and simple details of their pregnancy. Big brother was a little unsure about being photographed at first, but being in his own home and some quick work with puppets and bells and Dad-tosses, and he was sold! This family was so cute together and their home had some really nice natural light to use. I love their matching red outfits against the white trim and furniture in the nursery. We had so much fun learning about their family and how happy they are to soon be a family of 4. I can’t wait to meet baby #2 and plan for his newborn session in just a couple of weeks! We’ve been told the name is a secret, so you will have to stay tuned to his newborn post to see what they ended up choosing! In Home Maternity Photos | Newington, CT
Planning your journey to parenthood is such a special time, and what better way to capture than with in home maternity photos by your’s truly? Now in home sessions are maybe done less often in the photography world, but for some it’s a more comfortable and storytelling way to describe their personal preparations and time with their partner before their newborn baby arrives. It’s also helpful when photographing during a season that weather can be an issue. And this spring was tough to schedule! April has continued to be pretty cool/cold and wet, so having the ability to photograph indoors is important! My studio height is just a little short for taller dads. 🙂 So in home maternity photos was a great solution! Megan & Konrad live very close by so it was a short trip over to visit! You can just see how excited they are to be parents as they get the house and nursery ready for the baby. Their front doorway had some fabulous lighting! So we used that area along with the living room and nursery. The fox theme they chose with variety of colors was just so cute! And the family pets were happy to see what we were up to during the session too! I’m so glad we were able to fit in some memorable maternity images in for them, because unbeknownst to us at the time, Megan went in to have the baby just a few days later (and a few weeks early!). So it’s always highly recommended to schedule your maternity and newborn photo sessions during your 2nd trimester so we can make sure to schedule in case your due date changes. We are booking well into the summer and even some fall dates now, so contact us for your special session when you are ready! 🙂

Outdoor Maternity Portraits | Wethersfield, CT
Outdoor maternity portraits are a great way to capture the special moments before your baby is born! Danielle & Dan contacted me over the winter time to discuss planning photography for their newborn baby due in May. The great thing about my Annual Review Plan option is that clients can use it either for a traditional “Baby Plan” (newborn, 6 month, and 1 year sessions) OR you can opt to use it for up to 2 Petite and 1 Heirloom style photoshoot in the baby’s first year. So this was a great way for them to start off their story with a Maternity photoshoot to capture this period before becoming new parents! We decided to meet in Wethersfield, CT and although the morning was a little chilly, it was nice to get outside after a long winter and see some of the first signs of spring! Although this was a Petite portrait session, typically around 30 minutes in length, it was plenty of time to capture portraits of them together and then Danielle by herself. You can see how excited they are to be new parents, and I can’t wait to photograph baby when he arrives! We highly recommend booking these types of sessions in your 2nd trimester to guarantee availability. As with my May schedule, I was completely filled to capacity with newborns (and all session types) because we are not 100% sure when they will arrive. So it’s a great idea to book your due date well ahead of time to ensure we can hold time in the calendar and then schedule more specifically after they arrive (typically around 10-14 days later, weekday mornings). I’m looking forward to celebrating the newest basketball player to their family “team” and we’ll see if we have something special up our sleeves to highlight that. Outdoor Maternity Photography | Newington, CT
I was contacted by Sam over the summer and they were interested in booking an outdoor maternity photography session to capture the special pre-baby time as a couple! Even booking a Petite session is a great way to get some beautiful photos of the mom-to-be with her baby bump. We met at the Wethersfield Cove with it’s pretty morning light and Sneha was just glowing along with her beautiful smile! I love how excited they are about their first child and it shows the way that they look at each other. This area has a lot of places to explore, but a favorite part is always the small beach area with the boats in the background. Even at high tide, we were able to sneak onto some dry beach to highlight Sam & Sneha together with the vibrant water surrounding them. I like to use a nice combination of both posed and lifestyle images throughout the session to give couples a wide variety of photos to choose from. I love that they will be able to enjoy their images in both print and digital format through many different products during their Design & Ordering appointment. I hope you enjoy some of their favorite images and I look forward to meeting their baby boy this coming fall for his newborn photoshoot! We highly recommend booking your due date in your 2nd trimester, especially if you plan to booking your maternity photos as well. Family Maternity Photography | Marlborough, CT
This is such an honor for me to post! The Tyler Family has been close to my husband’s family for a long time and although our families live farther apart in Connecticut, whenever we see them it’s like it hasn’t really been that long! So I was overjoyed to hear they were expecting baby #3 this fall and even happier that they wanted me to photograph all of the milestones along the way! So we met in late July for their family maternity photography session to capture not only some beautiful photos of Mom, but their last group photos together as a family of four! Summer weather was tough this year for afternoon and evening photo sessions because it rained just about every day for a while! Even the night of their session we were closely watching the radar up until about 30 minutes before meeting! Luckily, we were able to sneak it in before Mother Nature had other ideas! We met at Portland’s Riverfront Park, which is a quiet local spot by the Connecticut River. With their families originally being from Portland (and many still living there), I thought it would be special for them. Their girls are so cute and it’s nice to have the change to work with older children who can follow directions and are excited about picture taking. We have such a great gallery for them to choose from of both posed and candid images and I look forward to meeting baby #3 this coming September!

Storytelling Maternity Photos | Berlin, CT
I was so excited when one of my favorite families told me they were expecting baby #3 this summer! I have watched their two little boys grow, photographed milestones, and they’ve been regulars at our Santa Experience for the last few years as well! They are waiting for a surprise to see if #3 will be a boy or a girl, so we planned special storytelling maternity photos that would not only highlight mom, but their growing family too! They decided to book our newest offering – an Annual Review Plan. This is great for clients who will be booking more than one session with me in the next year. They can choose up to 2 Petite and 1 Heirloom sessions within that year. So in this case, we met for a Petite maternity session and they will use the Heirloom for newborn photography, and save the remaining Petite session for the holidays! It’s a great way to save a little bit on session fees and have multiple photo sessions planned out ahead of time. AND with 1 ala carte menu to use for purchases, they can prioritize purchases too for each. Their maternity session was so adorable and we had such a beautiful morning for it too! The boys definitely loved being able to explore and rock throwing at the end was a plus! Their Mom looked so beautiful in her blue dress, which coordinated perfectly with everyone else’s outfits. Purchasing a framed family photo and small album was just the right way to tell this story while also having something to display on the wall. I can’t wait until baby #3 is here in just a few short weeks. Enjoy some of their favorites!
