Dylan’s Paint Smash | Portland, CT

We now have a NEW photo session type: a Paint Smash! For months I’ve been trying to think of a good way to come up with creative birthday photo sessions for age 2 and up, since most like the cake smash to only be done at the first birthday. My daughter attends a weekly program at a facility that does a lot of art with the kids, so I decided to try and incorporate that into a toddler session. My “pilot” session actually wasn’t going to be until March when I took my daughter’s 3rd birthday photos, but after discussing my idea with another mom, she decided that she wanted to do it with her son who was turning 2 this month as well! What a fantastic paint smash we had! This photo shoot was PERFECT for Dylan, and once the colors mixed together on the paper as he painted it created a beautiful backdrop! Dylan was also able to paint his own canvas that I provided and take it home to display; perhaps with one of the photos from his session to showcase his “age 2” artistry? Once we had fun painting everything in sight, then mom and dad joined in and they painted each other! When Dylan was starting to get tired, we brought down a warm tub bath to let him play, wash off the paint, and also to take some additional photos for his parents to enjoy! This was by far one of my favorite sessions to date and I’ve already booked a few more for other clients since then for the spring! Even older kids would enjoy this outdoors during the summer!
