Connecticut Family Photography
Families change fast, and those everyday moments of connection are worth holding onto as they happen. I offer sessions in my Newington studio, on location throughout Connecticut, or in your own home, and I keep things relaxed so your family can just be themselves in front of the camera.
Expertise.com named The Flash Lady Photography one of the best family photographers in Hartford County, CT.
Planning Your Family Photoshoot
Before your session, there are a few details I recommend thinking through. Being prepared makes a noticeable difference in how your images turn out.
1. Choosing a Location/Time
My Newington studio is a great fit for smaller families and offers a variety of handcrafted backgrounds and accessories. If you’d prefer something outdoors or at home, we’ll find a time and location that works for your family’s schedule and style
2. Family Outfit Coordination
Matching outfits aren’t necessary, but a cohesive color palette of 2-3 colors goes a long way. Adding accessories and mixing patterns and layers adds depth to the photos. I have a guide on what to wear for family sessions if you need a starting point.
3. Family FUN!
Kids do better when they’re having a good time, so I keep sessions light and engaging. Expect some games, some silliness, and a relaxed pace that makes the whole experience enjoyable for everyone.
Choosing an Outdoor Location
With years of experience shooting throughout Connecticut, I can help you find the right spot. Most young children do best in the morning, and summer sunsets can run quite late in the day, so timing is something to keep in mind when you schedule.
Connecticut has no shortage of beautiful settings, and you do not need to travel far to find a great backdrop. Some of my favorite locations in central Connecticut include Mill Pond Falls in Newington, Elizabeth Park in Hartford and West Hartford, Wickham Park in Manchester, Old Wethersfield, the open spaces and apple orchards in Glastonbury, and Northwest Park in Windsor for families with kids who love animals and outdoor trails. If you have a spot that holds special meaning for your family, I am always happy to work with that too.
Heirloom Prints and Wall Art
I encourage all my clients to consider printing their photos. Physical prints and albums create lasting reminders of these moments that you can hold, hang, and come back to without needing a device. I work with professional labs using archival quality materials and can help you explore wall art, coffee table albums, and custom gifts.
Book your Family Session
There’s no wrong time of year for family photos, and every season brings something different to the images. I handle the details from start to finish so you can focus on showing up and enjoying the experience.
