Generational Family Photos | Newington, CT

Sometimes, a photo session subject matter isn’t always the easiest to work on. But in this particular case, generational family photos were of timely importance. When it became apparent in December that Grandpa was unable to continue to fight the cancer and was soon to be placed on hospice care, his family wanted to make sure that they had photos taken to remember happier times together. Unbeknownst to me, it was a difficult search process for them to find a photographer to come to the home to provide such a service. I’m so glad that a mutual friend heard about their difficulty and recommended my website for them to contact me. What can I say about this family? I feel as if I’ve gained a few more family members! They were so sweet in their communication and appreciative of my ability to come on such short notice. Since Grandpa was unable to physically come to my studio, we planned to set up their living room more “studio-like” so they would be able to take some traditional portraits. Even Fiona, his best dog friend, took part in the pictures, creating one of their favorite images with hands (see below!). Then, I suggested we move the couch back and have them look through photo albums together candidly. They laughed together about wedding attire from the past, and even Grandpa was holding back a few smiles. It is photo sessions like this that remind me (and so that I can remind you!) of the importance of documenting time with your family and PRINTING PHOTOS OUT! After walking them through the ordering process, they now have a number of both professional prints AND digital images to enjoy. I hope these family photos will not only help them heal when the time comes, but remember an enjoyable time together.
