Earlier this month I was welcomed by one of the sweetest families I’ve met to date! Lawson was born on July 1st 2016 and we met when he was eight days old. This is a great time for newborn sessions and a lot of times I am asked why it matters? Usually the 7-10 day range after the baby is born is the best time because they are still (for the most part, but not always!) pretty sleepy during the day and we are able to get them into some of the more difficult poses as you will see below. Prior to day 7, babies can be more fidgety even when sleeping or startle more easily. After day 10, babies start to become more and more alert or baby acne can start to appear. Of course, all of this varies with every baby and it is by NO means a deterrent from photographing any newborn! I always suggest my expecting clients contact me in their second trimester to reserve time around their due date so we can try to get them in during this “prime” period after birth. But if circumstances mean we meet earlier or later, that is ok too! I had such a nice time chatting with Lawson’s parents during his session and they were a great help with some of the composite images (always safety first!). I loved using some of the hats from Zellashop and the tassel hat was a definite favorite with his parents! Enjoy more sweet images below!
