Newington’s Premier Newborn Photographer
Newborn photography is one of the most technically demanding specialties in portrait photography, and it is also one of the most personal. I have spent nearly two decades perfecting both in my Newington, CT studio.
In 2021 I earned the Master Newborn Photographer credential from the NAPCP, one of the most rigorous credentialing processes in the industry, covering newborn safety, posing, and creative expertise. My work has been recognized by Good Morning America, WTNH, and UConn, and I am proud to be among a small number of photographers in Connecticut who hold this distinction.
Every session at The Flash Lady Photography is relaxed, safety-first, and built around your baby and your family. I have worked with newborns of every temperament, and I know that no two sessions look exactly alike. My Philosophy
I believe that newborn photography goes far beyond just taking pictures, to tell stories that will be cherished for generations. My approach combines artistry with empathy, ensuring that each session is tailored to the unique personality and needs of your family. I am passionate about creating a safe, nurturing environment where your newborn’s comfort is our top priority.
I am a mother myself and understand what this season of life feels like, the exhaustion, the overwhelm, and the fierce love that comes with it. I take the time to answer your questions, point you toward local providers who have been helpful to my own clients, and make sure that what we are creating meaningful heirlooms you can print, display, and hold onto.
The Newborn Photography Experience
A newborn session at The Flash Lady Photography is designed to be as easy on you as it is on your baby. I take care of everything that you’ll need to create beautiful newborn photos. All of the snuggly wraps, adorable outfits, petite headbands, warm hats, fluffy blankets, and quality backdrops are all made by hand by vendors all over the world just for newborn photography.
Before you arrive, we’ll have set the temperature just right for the studio, and again in the workspace we’ll be in, to ensure baby is comfortable and at a safe temperature they can regulate, monitored throughout. We’ll talk before you arrive about desired colors, newborn props, or speciality items you’d like to incorporate.
We’ll work through a variety of poses on a special newborn table before moving on to props, wraps, and finally together with parents and/or siblings. All sessions are baby-led and may incorporate different options depending on baby’s needs and alertness. We encourage parents to relax while they are here, but are happy to answer questions or have you participate during the photoshoot. We want you to always know what is happening with your baby.

Newborn Sessions in the Studio
Newborn photography sessions are my specialty at my Newington, CT studio. I carefully craft customized scenes and materials in advance based on your style, ideas, and imagination. Capturing the essence of your newborn’s first days is a unique experience that requires careful planning and attention to detail. I specialize in creating beautiful, timeless images that you will cherish for a lifetime. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that your newborn photography session is a stress-free and enjoyable experience.
For optimal scheduling, we recommend reaching out during your second trimester to discuss setting a due date and coordinating around it. Following the birth, we typically schedule a session within 8-14 days when the baby is still in a sleepy and flexible state.
Newborns change quickly as they grow. Their alertness increases, sleep cycles become lighter, and limbs strengthen. These changes make it important to capture their early moments. Newborn photography is typically done within the first 1-2 weeks, but it can be done up to 7 weeks old. Other milestone stages can also be considered for capturing memorable moments.
Newborn sessions typically last about 3 hours, allowing for feeding, changing, soothing, and even some adorable parent/sibling photos!
In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Sessions
Lifestyle Newborn Photography offers a serene and intimate option for those who prefer the comfort of their own home. In-home sessions capture the genuine beauty of your family’s everyday moments using natural light and settings. Your family’s natural interactions become art that reflects the true essence of your bond.
I’ll travel to your home and capture candid, natural moments of your family bonding with your new baby. This is a great fit for families with older siblings who are more comfortable in their own environment. Sessions typically make use of the nursery, living room, master bedroom, and other well-lit spaces throughout your home, supplemented with professional lighting equipment as needed.
Please keep in mind that in-home sessions do not include the traditional newborn posing, props, or setups used in a studio setting, and pricing is reflected accordingly. If you’d like to incorporate those elements, we can discuss that during our planning call.
