Senior Photography | Portland, CT

Senior photography is always a special type of portrait session for me to do! I love being able to work with a subject who is able to follow directions! Really though, I love working with newborns, babies, toddlers and their families, but there is something amazing about photographing portraits for the oldest child in their senior year. They are ready to head into a major life change, many will leave home, and it’s one of the last times that individual portraits of their child are taken. When Connor’s mom contacted me about planning his senior portraits I really wanted to make sure that he had something unique to his personality and focus on things that mean a lot to him during this stage of his life. She later told me this was his THIRD try at senior portraits – so I knew the pressure was on to wow them! We went to Riverfront Park in Portland, CT. I love this spot (it’s across the street from my in-laws!) because you can get so many different looks in a small location and it’s very quiet in the morning hours. After some dressier photos, we moved on to more casual photos with his truck – these he was really looking forward to! Connor is also really involved with the Civil Air Patrol, so I had him bring some pins and awards to highlight in his gallery. The most unique part of the session came at the end – I asked Connor and his mom to trust me as we went into the back industrial area of my in-law’s welding shop to use some of the multi-colored storage cans in their shared space as a backdrop!
