Senior Cap & Gown Photos | Newington, CT
2020 has been an interesting year! With the arrival of this COVID-19 virus and immediate shut down of all schools in Connecticut for the remainder of the year, administrations had to get creative when it came to celebrating their graduating seniors! And with non-essential businesses able to be back open, at least for outdoor distanced photoshoots by the end of May, I was overjoyed when I was contacted by this family to photograph some special senior cap & gown photos for their only graduating child! We decided to venture to a few locations around Newington, CT to give her variety and closeness to her hometown. She selected Newington High School, Mill Pond Park, & Deming-Young Farm as the 3 locations, which are in a relatively close proximity to each other. What a beautiful and confident young lady! She is aspiring to be a nurse and work with babies in the hospital. Boy do I understand the desire to work with those sweet little ones! We talked about her feelings about the school year and hopes for the future. It was a treat for me, who is so often photographing babies and toddlers that can’t understand me yet, to do young-adult portraits for such a special occasion. Senior year is one of the last times, with the exception of a wedding, military service, or other professional photos, that you are typically professionally photographed for a while (until starting your own family). So I always recommend to families to cherish this moment and invest in senior portrait photography or senior cap & gown photos beyond just the yearbook photo or traditional studio-style portraits to capture their personality with a longer, personal photoshoot. These will be images you will look back on for years to come, and especially with all that has gone on in 2020, you will have plenty to talk about for a long time!
