Blue & Gold Teddy Cake Smash | Avon, CT
My clients are always excited to plan for their custom cake smash photoshoots at my Newington, CT photography studio. But sometimes, it can be tough to plan for what to choose for a theme! With so many options to pick from and many prop ideas, along with their own, it’s helpful to know that they can create their own theme using a combination of what I have. This Mom contacted me hoping to plan something special for her son. She really liked my Twinkle Twinkle and hot air balloon themes as well as had sent invitations for his birthday party that incorporated some teddy bears. So…a blue & gold teddy cake smash was born including items from all 3 of those sets! And I just loved how this theme ended up looking! You might have seen a behind the scenes video of how exactly I put it together and it was very popular! The combination of the blue and gold colors along side the balloons and teddy bears were so precious. After taking some photo of the little guy with his big sister and Mom, we moved on to the set and eventually, his cake! The corresponding cake from Sweets By Jenna not only looked adorable, but tasted amazing too! And this little guy definitely agreed, as he smashed his way down through the delicious frosting and down to the cake part, especially after we gave him a trusty wooden spoon to help! After a bath and some bubble he was all cleaned off and ready to head home with a full gallery of adorable photos! Mom chose our heirloom Signature album with some digital files to create a beautiful keepsake that can be enjoyed again and again. Enjoy some of his favorites below and don’t forget to contact me around 4-6 weeks in advance for best availability.

Camping Woodland Cake Smash | Manchester, CT
This Mom was so excited to plan her son’s first birthday cake smash with The Flash Lady Photography! We like to get your desired date in the calendar first and then we can start planning! She absolutely loved my camping woodland cake smash theme so that was a quick and easy choice. For boys especially, this is a very popular theme selection and we can dress it up in so many different ways by adding other props or a lumberjack red and black flair as well! That’s the great thing about working with real props and items as we can create something special for each client and mix and match as desired. This little guy showed up looking absolutely adorable and ready to take on the world! Already walking and excited to check everything out, we started off with some clean pre-cake portraits. Blocks and balloons are always a big hit and let kids know this is fun! From there, we moved over to our set area for a few more pictures before it was cake time. We loved playing with my tractor! Next came the cake, and with such a yummy and adorable creation from Sweets by Jenna, it wasn’t a surprise why he dove right in! Eating was definitely a plus, but more than that, this little one loved to play! Luckily we end the session with a tub bath to wash all that frosting off and have a few more opportunities for photos. We had a great gallery for his parents to enjoy, and I hope to see them again for the next major milestone!

Colorful Carnival Cake Smash | Newington, CT
Summer cake smashes are always one of the most popular photoshoots that I do, and each one is carefully planned with each family. Mom has been so excited to plan this ever since they were in my studio for his newborn photoshoot, so we knew this had to be special! She easily chose our colorful carnival cake smash theme, and it’s definitely one of my favorites! I just love how bright and bold it is and every background shot is just beautiful! We started out the session as we always do with some pre-cake portraits just to warm up and get the child used to our studio. After some balloon play and photo fun, we moved over to the set to play with props and tractors. He really was on the move and gave us so many adorable smiles! Cake time was definitely NOT an issue – he really couldn’t wait to dive right in! And with a delicious cake by Sweets by Jenna, how can you blame him!? He happily smashed right into that adorable cake with both fists, even his foot! Spoon play was fun and we even figured out how to eat from it by ourselves! But that sometimes got in the way of eating it with our hands so there was a lot of switching back and forth. After plenty of cake, it was time for bath time! This is a great way to extend client galleries as well as help if the child isn’t as much into the cake as others are. Some bubbles and rubber duckies and most babies are having a blast! He just kept giving us those great smiles and it was tough to choose between so many of his adorable photos. Enjoy some of their many favorites below, and don’t forget to make sure to contact us at least a few weeks in advance to plan for your custom cake smash. We can’t wait to work with you!

Seaside Carnival Cake Smash | Cheshire, CT
This Mom came to me with an idea for a cake smash…it was unique and I was going to really have to get into my creative box to come up with the idea! Although she loved my original carnival theme, she planned his birthday party at home around a beach theme. So – a seaside carnival cake smash theme was in the works! Now planning a theme from scratch takes some time and planning to put together. And because all of my scenes use real props instead of ones that are printed on the background, I can mix and match to create something custom! I utilized some of my regular carnival props, beach props, and made some purchases to really make this seem like a carnival by the sea. And I just love how it came out! This little cutie was flashing up smiles as soon as he arrived, so I knew we would be fast friends. Playing with blocks, shells, and beach balls warmed us up before it was cake time. And what a gorgeous cake by Sweets by Jenna! He loved digging into it and exploring the details they incorporated into my request. Although he wasn’t too sure about bath time, we had so many photos from his other session parts that it didn’t matter – we could just clean up after a few snaps! His photos are going to look beautiful in an heirloom Legacy Box with matted prints and some corresponding digital files. Here are just some of the many favorites! Don’t forget to contact us within 4-6 weeks for the best availability, especially summer & fall birthdays!

Blue Balloon Birthday | Windsor, CT
This family is NO stranger to The Flash Lady Photography studio. In the last nearly 7 years we’ve seen their oldest daughter grow up from a 1 year old cake smasher, every milestone and Santa session in between, to now watching their baby boy grow up to HIS blue balloon birthday cake smash! I can’t believe it’s already been a year since they were here for his newborn photoshoot at my Newington, CT studio. What a cutie he is! The whole family was here for it, and we snuck in some family and sibling photos too! Little man was a bit unsure why we were doing all of this…but some tickles and blocks were big hits though! Cake was a no-go – he did NOT want to get messy. And that’s ok, sometimes this happens! Babies spend their first year being cleaned up after and some don’t understand why all of a sudden we want them to get messy. But we always have our ways of making things happen, and his big sister was happy to get in on the smashing herself. After some precious bath photos and bubble popping, it was time to wrap up. What a cute heirloom album they are going to have to enjoy. I can’t wait to see what we do next!
