Pretty In Pink Newborn Photos | Middletown, CT
When this little one’s Mom booked her newborn photoshoot with me at my Newington, CT photography studio, she already knew how photogenic that she was. Now I know a lot of parents are biased to how adorable their children are (me included!) but this baby girl was so adorable for her pretty in pink newborn photos! Mom was hoping for plenty of pink and “girly” ideas to help celebrate the birth of her baby girl. Grandma came along for the session as well to help and it was so lovely getting to know both of them. She was so sleepy and sweet for us while I carefully posed her in a variety of ways. Mom also asked for florals (very popular the last few years), so I incorporated plenty of flowers and our popular heart bowl in the props scenes. How can you resist that little crown she wore? We worked on poses and props for most of her photoshoot and at the end we tried getting her posed in the bucket again (snack time adjusted the first attempt). Thankfully she was happy to pose for us and even gave us some smiles at the end too! It was such a pleasure working with this adorable family and and I can’t wait to watch her grow up and hopefully see her back for her first birthday cake smash or other milestone photos along the way. Are you or someone you know expecting? We recommend booking your due date (and time around it) in your 2nd trimester to give us plenty of time to plan before their big arrival (since we don’t always know when that will be!). If you’re hoping for maternity photos as well, then we recommend scheduling both appointments right after your 1st trimester ends (or as early as you feel comfortable of course). Our e-gift cards are a great way for family and friends to contribute towards your photos as well, so don’t forget about this option for baby showers and sprinkles. Purple & Pink Newborn Photos | Middletown, CT
It’s always such an honor to me to work with families again as they grow! Just a few years ago big brother was in my Newington, CT photography studio for his newborn photoshoot. And before we knew it, baby sister was in for her purple & pink newborn photos herself! Although we didn’t get to see big brother this time, hopefully we’ll be able to get together for another shoot all together next time around. Baby sister was so adorable! Super sweet cheeks, a head of hair, and once she was nice and full it was time to do some posing! Mom and Dad were hoping for the froggy pose again (always a popular request!) as big brother did so well with it! Being a little bit smaller can make the pose more difficult, but we did it! (Don’t forget – this is a composite image of 2 photos put together!) Using a lovely combination of soft pinks and purples, we put together a beautiful gallery for her parents that was just darling! It was so hard to choose a favorite with a wide variety of blanket and props poses, plus of course we had to get Mom & Dad in on the photo action at the end too! I’m so happy for this growing family and their beautiful wood cluster of her’s is going to look great next to her brother’s on the wall. Don’t forget! Mario Cake Smash | Newington, CT
Another one of my Annual Review Plan graduates has turned one! Wasn’t he just in our Newington, CT studio for his newborn photo shoot?? And again for his six-month sit up session?? We’ve had such a fun time this year getting to know him and his little family. And Mom & Dad’s most important request was to create a custom set for a Mario cake smash! As big Nintendo fans, they had a bunch of little stuffies to contribute. And together, we came up with an adorable scene for their little guy! Now, COVID-19 has kept a lot of us at home more often, especially our littlest clients! So it’s not surprising when lack of social interaction with others beyond Mom & Dad and maybe grandparents causes a little bit more of a stranger danger reaction. This little man was pretty wary about our photo shoot this time compared to our pst interactions together. But still, we had a pretty cute set up for some great first birthday portraits! He might not have been a big fan of getting messy or eating cake, but boy was it a cute one from our friend at Betty’s Cake Creations! We can’t believe he’s already 1, but it’s been such a pleasure working together for the last year. And hopefully we’ll see him back again for the next milestone or holiday!

Farmhouse Cake Smash | Middletown, CT
Cake Smashes! They are one of my favorite things to do here at The Flash Lady Photography studio in Newington, CT! When I get to brainstorm with parents to come up with a theme that is unique them AND unique to my studio, it’s always fun to see what we can do! So Mom asked for a farmhouse cake smash to go along with a very popular decor style right now! And I love everything about that style because it’s such a neat combination of woods and whites. I knew that I had some items that would work perfectly, but I also had to go out and find some new materials to add in. Sets definitely are an investment in you too! So I always tell my clients – I will put just as much of an investment in you as you do in me! We started out the session with some quick family photos that were so cute! Little man gave us some great smiles right away that just warmed Mom’s heart! He loved playing with our toys, blocks, balloon, and checking out some of the more unique items of the set. Next it was time for cake! And you know what – he just didn’t want to get that messy! It’s a common thing – if you think about it, we’re always cleaning their messes and then all of a sudden want them to get messy and they get confused! Luckily wiping off hands and using a spoon instead keep the session going. Lastly it was tub time, which he absolutely loved and the smiles were back! Splashing and playing with the rubber duckies were a great time and I think he would have stayed there playing all day! What an adorable gallery he had and it is going to look just beautiful in his heirloom Signature Album when it comes in! This is a great way to get a higher volume of quality photos printed and still purchase some ala carte digitals to do with it! Fairy Garden Cake Smash | Middletown, CT
After what seemed like a really fast year from her newborn photoshoot with me, it was time to celebrate Amina’s first birthday with a fairy garden cake smash! This is baby #2 for this adorable family and I’ve been so honored to watch both of them grow up from newborns through my lens! And I was so excited when Mom asked if I could utilize one of my original themes for a boy (enchanted forest) from last year and make it girly like a fairy garden! I couldn’t wait to see what I could come up with. The combination of florals, animals, and butterflies was just beautiful! And of course, no set could be complete without a matching cake from Betty’s Cake Creations. Can you believe how real those flowers look?! Like her sister, this little miss is off to the races already! Standing, walking, she was ready to see all of the many interesting things I had in the set! When it was time for cake we were a little bit cautious, but once we realized how yummy the frosting was there was no holding back! It was even fun to try putting her feet in the cake too! Adding the use of a spoon as a tool is always fun to expand the cake smashing time, and when it was all over the cake was definitely sufficiently smashed! Afterwards, it was time to clean up with a tub bath! Amina had a lot of fun playing with the ducks and seeing how many she could play with at once. There was a lot of frosting on that cute face to clean off, so these baths not only give us more opportunities for fun photos, but less of a mess for Mom & Dad later!
