Romantic Hartford Connecticut Wedding | Hartford, CT
One of the things I love about wedding photography is the challenge that it brings every single time. There are skills that you do not use with regular portrait photography or even with studio photography and it’s a great way to master some new techniques to WOW my clients and push my skills to the next level! Such was the case with my recent wedding clients, Christine & Andrew, who were married over Labor Day weekend at City Steam Brewery. This was quite a romantic Hartford Connecticut wedding and my first in the downtown area. What a sweet couple they are! They chose not to have a large bridal party, other than their own siblings, so it was really nice to be able to focus a little bit more on their first look and formals. Our first challenge of the day came because of the weather. We had been watching it all week, and unfortunately despite our best hopes, it poured for most of the day including right when we had hoped to do first look and formals in the beautiful Bushnell Park area. But, sometimes weather forces you to a plan B. So, we used the Capitol Building overhang to take our first look and formal wedding portraits. What a great spot! The lighting was perfect and kept us nice and dry while still giving Christine & Andrew the open airy feel that outdoor portraits would provide. Their first look was adorable and I love when couples take my suggestions of including this special moment in their wedding day. It’s a very personal and private moment that is seldom allowed during a busy wedding day schedule. After family formals and bride and groom portraits, we returned to City Steam for their ceremony and reception. What a neat location this was! Not your typical wedding reception venue, we were able to use off camera lighting techniques to photograph the bride and groom in many areas of the brewery restaurant area (even within the brewery itself!). This really gave them a lot of unique looks and we even had the sun come out towards the end of the reception to give us one last portrait outside the front of the restaurant. This was truly a fun afternoon of two people in love, and I hope they love their photos as much as I do! Please enjoy some of the many great photos from their romantic Hartford Connecticut Wedding!
