Town Hall Wedding | Newington, CT

I received a call from Kofi in early November, hoping that I could help him and his fiance, Joyce, with wedding photography for a local town hall wedding in Newington, CT just after the Thanksgiving holiday. They are both originally from Ghana, West Africa, and have been living in Connecticut for almost 20 years. They met when he was a professor at the University of Connecticut for economics and he has since moved to Washington DC for work (but returns to Connecticut every other week). Joyce works as a nurse in New Britain, CT. They’ve been hoping to plan their wedding ceremony for a while now, but work schedules and other obstacles were getting in the way. So on Monday, November 26th, 2018 at just prior to 1:00pm, we met at the Town Clerk’s office to initially sign and notarize their marriage license. Now I wasn’t originally asked to be here for this part, but when they told me that’s what they would be doing I thought it would be cute and creative to capture this important part of joining their union before the ceremony! And I’m so glad that I did – it was a really sweet exchange between the two of them. Afterwards, we met some friends of their’s and headed to the town hall lobby where the ceremony was conducted by a Justice of the Peace. After some formals, we headed back to my studio since the weather was cold and wet that day, and used my holiday set for additional formals! I am so pleased with how nice their wedding story came together and I wish them both the best of luck with their new life together! Enjoy some of the favorites from their wedding day!
